Madsen Wins at Tri City Speedway, Sixth in Knoxville

Fresh off of his Sunday night win over the All Star Circuit of Champions, Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team pocketed their third win of the season by way of their MOWA win in Pontoon Beach, IL on Thursday night, before a sixth place finish at the Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night.

“We have been working so hard, and to have some serious speed with the biggest week of the year upon us is huge for this team,” Madsen said.

Taking on the MOWA series at Tri City Speedway, Madsen and his Nehring Construction/Team Kline Electric/Logan Contractors Supply entry lined up sixth in his heat, and he St. Mary’s, NSW pilot charged his way to a second place finish, putting him second in points, and in the Dash.

Scoring a second place finish in the Dash, Madsen lined up on the front row of the feature event alongside, Kody Kinser.

In the feature event, Madsen shot out to the lead, as he battled with NASCAR star, Tony Stewart, during most of the race, with Madsen keeping him at bay.

With the track taking rubber late in the feature, Madsen found him, and rode the last handful of laps out as he picked up the win.

“It is great getting another win with all of these guys,” Madsen said. “Like I said last week we hit a bit of a rough patch at the beginning of the month, but everyone worked even harder, and we have been pretty good the last couple of night’s.”

Heading back to the Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night, Madsen set the standard in time-trials, as he earned quick time honors.

Starting sixth in his heat race, Madsen raced his way to a second place finish, putting him eighth in the feature event line up.

Lining up in the fourth row, Madsen wasn’t able to quite get the run to the front he had hoped to battle with Brian Brown, as he stayed right around the top-five all 20-laps.

At the end of the night, Madsen came home with a sixth place finish.

“overall the weekend was a good one for our team, and I am really looking forward to Nationals week.”
